So you have decided you want to be a professional actor/performer and you have the talent - good for you.
Obviously i would like the first step to be working with act4ward at which point we discuss options, what you need to do and how you need to do it.
Don't run before you can walk, be prepared - but be open to pushing you personal boundries and taking the odd chance or two.. Status:- Excitement
Some of the most successful I have worked with now within the acting industry had little idea at the start that it was even possible for them, others discovered drama at a photoshoot and became hooked. Acting takes talent, all performance does - act4ward is designed to build up confidence discover hidden talent and encourage the individual forwards. Status:- @ act4ward
Everyone tell's you need headshots - hey I am a photographer what else would I say. And you need profile images, example self tapes or video /audio work - all that act4ward offers - but hold fast on spending lots of money on headshots or workshops until you have an actual plan. With headshots for example lets say you spend £200 on them - and lets say they are great.. then you get an agent who wants you to pay again... Status:- Thinking ahead.
We all have personal limits and sometimes that lack of self belief and lack of confidence can get in the way. As an actor you are whatever your character demands or at least that is how it should be.
Act4ward is designed to encourage but not bully - and to build up an acting brand that suits you and your talent. Many actors suffer badly from stage fright or lack body confidence on stage or on film.
This is natural - so don't worry about it - just keep an open mind - work hard and you will be fine.
Status:- Discovering yourself and potential.
It does not matter how good you are as a performer if no one knows who you are. When the time is right you need to be seen and heard - you will probably join acting websites such as Starnow, Mandy or when your really on your way Spotlight.
Act4ward builds up a profile and branding based on your talent and prospective talent. Also we look at options in training if you not already at drama school.
It is true that many do well without formal training by a grudual build up of work through castings & on the job experience. Training then follows as your career builds Status:- on our way.
When you starting out few agents of note will give you the time of day. Having an agent is certainly important - you will not have time to keep your own diary and work. Do not however just go with an agent because they made it easy or said yes. Who you choose can dictate whether you succeed - bump along the bottom or fail. It's worth waiting for the right one - deciding on who is right is something long conversations are made of. In the meantime build up your experience and network like mad!
Status:- I must be good an agent wants to talk to me!
